Places to stay in Puglia
Masseria Cuturi, Manduria
I will begin from this on as it is still under renovation. This masseria is dated 1881 and here was a huge production of wine Primitivo. But the territory of this masseria initially is dated smth like 2500 years ago and was inhabited by a population called messapi! One part is a completely archeological zone. The motherland of Primitivo is the a small town of Manduria. So when you see on the bottle “Primitivo di Manduria DOC” know that it is that Primitivo you should take.
Why to choose Masseria Cuturi?
First of all because it is close to an amazing beaches of the Ionian sea, just 4-5 km and you have a panoramic view from the roof! So the sea is really near. Also, from here you can visit such towns as Manduria, Oria, ceramic neighborhood of Grottaglie and Lecce. The second reason is that masseria continues to be a vinery. Masseria Cuturi produces wine and olive oil. In front of the mail building you can observe 30 hectares of vineyards. They are so peaceful and amazing! This masseria will explode when will be completed in 1-2 years. So far it has 9 totally comfort rooms and the owners plan to complete 30 rooms in total. Masseria cuturi already holds various wine tasting, master classes, yoga retreats, etcetera. The space is really huge here.

Masseria Le Torri, between Polignano a Mare
This is an adorable place! I do love it. My first visit here was in December 2018 and masseria was just terminating it’s first season being officially opened. Masseria Le Torri is a family run 9-rooms hotel with a very stylish interior and exterior.
It has various categories of rooms finishing with breathtaking suites in ex-church of the masseria or a bathrooms made in stone. All the textile seems to be never touched for how it is white, accurately embroidered and ironed. The owner Silvana is the heart of this place. Together with her husband they reconstructed a property which belonged for 2 centuries to the husband’s family. So here you fill the spirit of the family.
Why to choose Masseria Le Torri?
You are in 10 minutes drive from the major sightseeing of Puglia: Polignano a Mare and Monopoli. Alberobello, Locorotondo are also near. But the problem is that you never want to leave this place. It is so cosy from the rooms to the pool, that it it can become a right place for your Puglia escape. Anyway this masseria in Polignano is a good spot to discover Puglia. The prices vary from 180 during the low season to 220-250-280 euros per night with breakfast during the summer-autumn season.

Three main reasons to come here: the classy rooms and all the spaces; Italian Maldives and a gorgeous castle with the restaurant. Italian Maldives is the area of Ionian cost lower Gallipoli called like this because of the beauty of the sea in this area. Marina di Ugento is just 10 minutes away by car. Masseria Agapanto, Polignano a Mare
Feel yourself here like at home. It is only 4 rooms and separate house. It exists for around a year and is almost always booked. What I really loved is their bathrooms and a lounge area, kind of the living room for guests. This masseria is located a little bit inside comparing to Masseria le Torril, but is also a good from a logistic point of view. It is completely different than Le Torri due to the volume and the initial idea. Initially the project was for a big villa. Due to this fact masseria has its own charm. According to the plan, for the next year here will be a swimming pool. The prices start from 140 euros per night.
Masseria Li Reni, Manduria
This Masseria in few kms from Manduria is not officially launched yet but already receives guests. Masseria was bought couple of years ago by a top Italian journalist Bruno Vespa and will become an idyllic spot for wine tour and a relaxation in between beautiful beaches of Manduria and Porto Cesareo. Masseria Li Reni has got various green areas for guests, a swimming pool. The restaurant opens the next year as well as the winery right near the masseria. So here you’ve got the complex of a high quality hotel surrounded by vineyards, one the best Primitivo’s area – Manduria, beautiful sea in 5 kilometers and what else.. A lot of small agriturismo around where you can taste true apulian cuisine.
